2011 Tough and Sporty Android Smartphones [Xperia Active, Defy+, Galaxy Xcover]

Second quarter of 2011 was the time for Motorola, Samsung, and Sony Ericsson to announce and launch their brand new concept for tough and sporty smartphone. The tough smartphone concepts made for active adventurers and anybody with rough, outdoor, or urban activities. Flick it, kick it, throw it, wet it, even drag, and drop it, tough smartphone shall survive and goes wherever you go.

Based on the concept, tough smartphone shall be durable, sporty, but still fashionable. The physical strength advantage of these smartphones shall be supported by user friendly operating system. For these days, I believe that android will be the one that gives us the best and reliable operating system.

The muscle of these smartphones are proved by the IP67 standard certification. These smartphones are supposed to withstand water immersion in up to a meter for as long as half an hour. It's also dust-proof and shock-resistant, which is means it's all we need to go to somewhere that we can push our self to the limit.

For this concept, we could find three similar products from these vendors. Motorola had started the competition with Defy+ which is released on September, and then Samsung and Sony Ericsson followed their competitor with S5690 Galaxy Xcover and ST17a Xperia Active on October.

NC-295, Demi Masa Depan N-219, PTDI, dan Industri Dirgantara Indonesia

Tulisan ini dibuat sudah beberapa hari sejak berita pengujian pesawat angkut sedang tipe C-295 dengan tail number EC-296 oleh TNI-AU dan PTDI didengungkan di berbagai media cetak dan elektronik. Bagi saya pribadi berita ini terasa bagaikan air mineral yang sungguh sejuk untuk kita nikmati ketika berbuka puasa. Setelah berbagai berita miring mengenai PTDI akhirnya muncul juga berita yang insya Allah akan membawa angin segar untuk kemajuan PTDI dan industri dirgantara Indonesia.

Pesawat dengan tail number EC-296 ini sejatinya bukanlah hasil produksi PTDI, pesawat ini berkunjung ke wilayah udara Indonesia demi membawa misi suci membuka kerjasama baru antara PTDI, TNI-AU, serta Airbus Military yang merupakan anak perusahaan EADS, dedengkot industri militer di wilayah Uni Eropa.

EC-296, pesawat yang kini ber-cat abu-abu khas TNI-AU dengan name marking "Ciudad de Sevilla" yang berarti "Kota Sevilla" dalam bahasa Indonesia ini kini memiliki tanda bendera merah putih di bagian bawah kokpitnya serta marking NC-295 di fuselage depannya. EC-296 merupakan prototype kedua pesawat tipe C-295 buatan CASA (sekarang bagian dari Airbus Military) dan terbang perdana pada tahun 1998. Sudah jelas bahwa EC-296 bukan pesawat yang baru kemarin sore keluar dari hanggar tempat ia dibuat.

N-219, Nafas Kebangkitan Industri Dirgantara Indonesia

N-219, kelahiran harapan baru industri dirgantara Indonesia ini dimulai pada tahun 2006 ketika PTDI (PT. Dirgantara Indonesia) mulai menyadari bahwa terdapat potensi yang cukup besar dalam pasar penerbangan perintis di Indonesia. Pada sebuah negara kepulauan penerbangan perintis merupakan suatu mode transportasi yang sangat krusial dalam mendukung perekonomian, terutama pada wilayah-wilayah terpencil yang hanya dapat dijangkau melalui mode penerbangan dengan landasan pacu pendek. Potensi pasar ini telah lama dikelola, namun sepertinya belum terlalu baik seperti penerbangan terjadwal antar kota besar yang umumnya dilayani oleh maskapai besar layaknya Garuda, Lion, Batavia, Sriwijaya, dan beberapa maskapai lainnya. Meskipun salah satu maskapai BUMN (Merpati) diplot untuk mengelola penerbangan perintis, nampaknya mereka juga masih kewalahan dengan pasar tersebut, terlihat dengan berkembang pesatnya beberapa maskapai perintis seperti Susi Air atau Aviastar.
